FMCA Immediate Past President

Charlie and Jean Schrenkel

Charles M. "Charlie" Schrenkel, L140050

Charlie and his wife, Jean, joined FMCA in January 1991 and became charter members of the Constitution Cruisers chapter, with Charlie serving as chapter vice president and alternate national director, that same year.  Charlie served as national president from July 2009 until November 2010, when he resigned after being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. He later learned that the diagnosis was inaccurate, and he ran for the office again and was elected for a two-year term in July 2011.

Charlie also has served as a national director; chief of security at six international conventions; a member of the Convention Sub-Committee; a member and chair of the Membership/Member Services Committee; and national vice president, Southeast Area. He also is a member of the Parking and Layout chapter and has assisted in the parking of motorhomes at several international conventions.  He and Jean have been volunteer coordinators at two international conventions held at Perry, Georgia. They belong to seven chapters.

Charlie and Jean started volunteering for the Southeast Area in 1998 at Titusville, Florida, and have worked in parking, security, grounds, and layout of the entertainment tent.  Charlie was chief of security, traffic, and safety at Southeast Area rallies.

Charlie was a sergeant with the New York State Police and also assistant chief pilot for a major international airline. He enjoys flying and is a certified flight instructor. He and Jean have been full-time RVers since 1996.
